New autumn releases at Catrice ♥

1. 10. 2018

img_3046img_3082img_3050img_3062
Is anyone else excited by the fact that autumn is truly here? We’ve entered October, which only means that the new releases and limited editions by Catrice are now available to purchase! This time I chose three products to test out, all of which are quite delicate in their own way.

The Goodbye Pores is their new primer with a blur effect. It’s supposed to even out the complexion and provide a good base for the foundation. Only a small amount is needed for the entire face, otherwise it starts forming tiny clumps. While I do like its effect on the skin, it doesn’t seem to prolong the wear-time of my makeup. I honestly never see any difference, even when I use a sample of the Urban Decay primer. I’m quite indifferent, so I cannot say that this primer will change how the makeup wears throughout the day, but it probably cannot hurt if you feel that your makeup usually fades over time :)

I also went for The Little Black One waterproof volume mascara and I’m glad I did because it’s incredible! It beautifully lengthens and curls my lashes and gives them gorgeous volume. I’ve been using it religiously ever since I got it, although I have several new mascaras that were supposed to be more intriguing. Some bloggers don’t like it that much, but I honestly couldn’t ask for more. Retailing at less than € 5, this cutie will not only stay put until the evening, it also won’t smudge underneath my eyes! I couldn’t help myself and purchased the regular version as well, but I have to say that the waterproof formula is much better. And it’s easily removed with a micellar water, no need for special waterproof cleansers!

Lastly, I chose the Glow highlighter because it seemed very interesting with its swirly texture. Unfortunately, I’m not that fond of its violet/blue sheen. It’s quite intense and has a white base, so I cannot build it like I usually would. I feel this one will suit those with fairer skin tone more than me.

All in all, it may seem that I’m not that impressed with these items. But please bear in mind that these products are an amazing value for money and can be compared with many way more expensive items. And it’s not all that bad, I adore The Little Black One mascara and rest assured that it will be repurchased as soon as this one is used up. Thank you so much for letting me try your new products, Catrice Slovenia! It’s always a pleasure :)

FAVORITE MAKEUP ITEMS OF 2017

26. 2. 2018

img_9622img_9609img_9573img_9638img_9642I know I’m really late to the party, but I truly wanted to talk you through my favorite makeup items of 2017. Last year was pretty eventful makeup-wise, I started loving colorful eyes and maybe a little less eye-catching lips. But fear not, we will discuss every single item that really deserves your attention.

The Makeup Revolution Flawless 4 palette is my absolute favorite when it comes to catchy eyesThis is a very versatile eyeshadow palette, the shades ranging from matte and shimmery neutrals through colorful orange, pink and red shades all the way to deep nudes and black. I mean, is there any other shade you need in your daily life? And their wear-time is amazing, they blend beautifully and have a great pigmentation. And all that for just a little under € 13!

Another eye product that I surprisingly haven’t mentioned so far is the L’Oréal Paradise Extatic mascara. I love how thick my eyelashes look after just one coat, but can be slightly clumpy – I actually prefer a slightly edgy look, but not everyone enjoys it. This is my second tube in 7 months and there could be various reasons for that. 1) I like it so much that I go through very quickly, or 2) which is probably the real reason that I discussed on Instagram with Ana, a lovely blogger behind the Mad about red blog. She did a small investigation and actually discovered that there is a very small amount of mascara in the tube compared to other brands or even other L’Oréal mascaras (9.1 ml)! However, I’ve done a research of my own and it’s not that bad as there are other mascaras that have around 8 ml of the product for the same price. Nevertheless, the mascara costs around € 15, which is not a negligible amount of money, but you can occasionally get it on sales in Slovenia.

As I said, I was not that keen on buying or wearing that many lipsticks last year. I simply have so many that I only cycle between a few that I really enjoy (such as Ruby Woo by Mac or Matt Confident by Milani). However, there are two items that really surprised me. The first is the Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil, a very thick lip gloss that is so satisfying on the lips! It comes with a big doe foot applicator that covers the whole lip with just one stroke. It has a very glossy finish and I love that it doesn’t wear off quickly. The red undertone is just slightly visible, so it is perfect to intensify the natural color of your lips. The second one, however, is the L’Occitane Pivoine Sublime lip balm. They have several shades available, and though I still have a fair amount left, I think I will also go for the orange one in the spring. Again, a perfect lip balm that adds some color to your lips, but feels amazing and moisturizing.

Last but not least, I have two makeup items for the cheeks that really marked my 2017. The first is the Sun Stripping Bronzer by Catrice, my favorite bronzer since the moment it came into my life. I’ve been using it religiously since August and you can see the lines have not faded at all! I haven’t reached for any other bronzer for months and I’m super sad that it was only part of their summer limited edition. The second palette that took my heart is the Makeup Revolution Pro Amplified Strobe and Highlightning Palette. This is the most perfect set of four pressed and four creamy highlighters. They have the prettiest sheen ever and look amazing on the face. I love the creamy ones, I apply them with a sponge and they just melt together with the foundation.

Well, these are my top six makeup products of 2017. I know we’re almost in March, but I really wanted to recap my beauty favorites that I still use on a daily basis! :)

BEST OF CATRICE AND ESSENCE IN DECEMBER

28. 1. 2018

img_8973img_8989img_8996img_9008img_9028Catrice and Essence surprised me with some of their limited editions in December. Unfortunately, they are probably not available anymore, but I’m sure there will be similar ones available in the future. All of these have quickly become my staples and I still love using them, although the holiday season finished weeks ago. My favorite product of all is the Catrice Cosmic Body Sparkle Fluid. It comes in the prettiest matt bottle and looks very minimalistic. The fluid itself looks like a dry oil and contains the most beautiful shimmer ever, I applied it on my hands, arms and décolletage for every single occasion in December and it looked amazing. I know it will look gorgeous in the summer when I’m slightly tanned, such an amazing item! Next is the Make Me Special prismatic lipstick topper with silver glitter. In my opinion, the glitter is too big to be worn on its own, but works pretty good when I apply it over a matt lipstick that needs some dimension. Another interesting product is the Counting Stars magic mirror effect nail pigment in shade 01. I’ve never used anything like this before, but I love how it worked out. You apply a small amount of the pigment over a slightly dried coat of nail polish and rub it until the surface is shiny, and then top it off with a top coat. I applied it over a red Catrice nail polish and it looks very pink with a blue undertone. However, I couldn’t take a nice picture of it, but there are plenty on the internet :) It’s done very quickly and looks very nice, so I’m looking forward to using it over other shades of nail polish as well. Last but not least, I also received the Be My Highlight eyeshadow palette with four pastel metallic shades. They look so pretty and gentle on my face, and you can also use them as a highlighter! All in all, I love their limited editions, but the only downside is that they the products are gone pretty quickly. I have some amazing goodies by L.O.V. Cosmetics, cannot wait to share them with you! :) Take care!

Healthy Skin Harmony & my holiday makeup

26. 12. 2017

img_7788img_7777img_7801How to apply a foundationMakeup of the day Max FactorMakeup of the day Max Factor
Honestly, I have never met a pickier person when it comes to choosing a new foundation. Is it just me or are foundations that have a good coverage, hold for a decent period of time and don’t crease in wrinkles really hard to find? Countless times have I bought a foundation that looked great on my skin in the drugstore and turned out to be a huge disappointment. And believe me, I was really skeptical when I received the Max Factor Healthy Skin Harmony foundation (and a Creme Puff pressed foundation, but I’ve already had it before and I loved it!). Firstly, I’ve tested several of their liquid foundations before and none of them fitted my skin tone and secondly, because how on earth would they be able to choose the right shade for me?! And the question about the wear time was still open at that point.

The reason why I am talking about it now is because I really wanted to embrace my inner skeptic and be 200% sure what I am talking about. Initially I received a slightly light Healthy Skin Harmony in shade Beige 55, but unfortunately the pump was broken. Then they sent me a darker shade Sand 60. When I realized that the second shade was too dark, I mixed both of them up and got the perfect shade for my complexion!

Healthy Skin Harmony has:

high coverage  very moisturizing formula ♦ great wear time

So, I can finally tell you that I LOVE this foundation!! I hesitated so much about using it in public for the first time as I never know whether the foundation will oxidize on my skin … But I was pleasantly surprised when I realized the combination of the two shades matches my skin tone perfectly and doesn’t change over time. Its texture is quite thick, which means you use quite a lot of the product, but it also means it is highly buildable. Healthy Skin Harmony has a great wear time, especially when I fix it with the Creme Puff pressed foundation. I’ve already used the exact same powder before so I knew this would be a great addition to my makeup collection. All in all, this foundation has met my standards and I cannot recommend it enough to those who are looking for a high-coverage foundation that would last on your face from the morning till the evening.

This is also my favorite holiday makeup look, I love pairing the foundation with some bronzer, colorful eyes and a pop of highlight on my cheeks (and this Makeup Revolution Pro Amplified highlighting palette is AH-MAZING!!). On the photos you can also see everything that I wore that day–my current makeup staples, some of them are new and some are already among my favorites. Having said all that, Healthy Skin Harmony is Vesna en violet–approved and I will definitely buy it again when when I use it up!

Autumn favorites #2017

17. 12. 2017

img_6875img_6879
You know what they say, better late than sorry! Autumn has flown by like crazy, but it was still a good season regarding new cosmetics. I bought quite a few product that I’ve been really loving since day one and I actually managed to use them a lot as I was at home for more than three weeks due to two consecutive colds!

my top five are:

The main star of the Autumn favorites is without doubt the Makeup Revolution Pro HD Luxe eyeshadow palette. I already wrote about it extensively here – a beautiful combination of mattes and shimmers in different shades make for a versatile selection that can be used for every single occasion. Since then I received three more of their palettes and each of them is just as amazing! The second most exciting product is the Nuxe Rêve de miel, one of the most recommended lip balms by Slovenian bloggers. I was never that interested in it, but one day it just caught my attention in the store and I had to give it a go. Oh, how right was I to buy it, this is such a luxurious lip product! It really nourishes my lips and has a very pleasant smell. It also works great as a lip primer, especially on the days I decide to wear matte lip sticks. On the same day I actually also bought the Catrice Glow Stick from the Dawid Tomaszewski LE, a very pigmented and creamy highlighter with silver and white glitter. The outer packaging is very pretty and elegant, but the inner patent unfortunately looks very cheap and can quickly become messy. I believe this is due to its triangular shape, everything would be much easier if they went for a standard round stick :) Nevertheless, I really enjoy using it and will be perfect for the upcoming Holiday season.

Cold weather calls for hand protection and this is where The Ritual of Sakura hand cream by Rituals comes in. This cream is so nice to use as it quickly sinks into the skin due to its lightweight consistency. And the scent is obviously lovely, it’s Rituals we’re talking about! Plus, there is quite a generous amount of the product in the tube which means it will last for months. Last but not least, I’ve been using the Kneipp Regeneration Enzyme Peeling Powder so much this autumn. This is a very gentle enzyme peeling that comes in powder form. You just mix a small amount of powder with several drops of water, mix it and apply it on the face. The skin on my face feels very soft, but other than that I haven’t noticed any difference in how my skin looks. But it’s a nice evening treatment and I don’t have to worry that my skin would get any reactions, which is obviously a big plus!

New in by Catrice for Autumn/Winter 2017

6. 10. 2017

img_6281img_6329img_6301

Catrice has already launched their Autumn/Winter makeup collections and once again I had the opportunity to test three of their new products. I think Catrice is improving season by season, the quality of the products is obviously great considering the price, but the packaging of their limited editions is becoming much more elegant as well.

In my opinion, the most exciting product is the Liquid Lip Powder – Ultra Matt in a hot pink shade Spotted on Pink-erest 09. I really didn’t know what to expect as I’ve tried a powder lipstick before and its longevity wasn’t perfect. However, this Liquid Lip Powder is hands down the best matt lip gloss I own. The pigmentation doesn’t look that intense on the picture – and the lip gloss is actually much pinker – but becomes completely opaque when applied on the lips. I’m sure I’ve gone six hours with one application in the morning, drank coffee and even ate without having to make any touch-ups. Of course it can be a bit drying on the lips, but this is the price to pay for perfect matt lips, isn’t it? There are five more shades available in Müller and I have yet to get at least another one or two!

I’m not that quickly satisfied with brow products and I can proudly say that I adore the Brow Palette Matt & Glow in 01 Now Flash Lights. This is the lightest palette of the two and works great on my dark brown brows, but I’m not that sure it is light enough for those with lighter hair. The palette consists of three compartments, a wax you can sculpt your brows with, a matt powder for a natural finish as well as a light-reflecting powder for glow finish. Although I usually hate small brushes that come with palletes of this kind, this one is so cute and actually great to work with! I really love how my brows look after the application, the combination of wax and powder really make it so easy to shape the brows and hold them in place for the entire day.

The second lip product is actually part of the Dawid Tomaszewski limited edition, a gorgeous line that is incredible just to look at, not to mention that the products are just as amazing. I received the Wild Matt Lip Colour in shade Unconventional Violet. The name fits this lippie perfectly, I’ve really had some issues to test it out properly as I think the color is slightly too bold to wear it to work! Nevertheless, its texture is very creamy and pleasant to wear, but I always have to use a lip scrub the night before as it can quickly become patchy on the lips. I would love to try the Fashion Flash Highlighter from the same collection, it looks gorgeous! Have you spotted any of these products at your nearest drugstore? :)

September favorites #2017

29. 9. 2017

img_6535img_6522img_6581
September is practically over and I have finally time to share my current favorites with all of you! The past few months have been insanely hectic and a good makeup routine was key to get myself ready in 10 minutes and still look presentable.

The most exciting makeup items of this season must have been the two products by Artdeco. I had a few of their items when I was in high school, but then completely lost track of their offer – up until I bought these two around three months ago. The first one is the three toned Ombre Lipstick in shade red fusion (43), a gorgeous lippie with three different shades. You can apply a combination of dark red, peachy middle shade and bright red in three ways – with the brightest shade either on top or at the bottom of your lips or you just apply all of them at the same time to create just one shade. All of them are completely opaque and intense, a perfect way to create a trendy look in a matter of seconds! The formula is very creamy, too, and lasts for hours. You can also intensify the shade with the dark or bright red, or focus on the peachy shade for a more neutral look. The second product is the Hydra Mineral Compact Foundationa compact powder foundation in shade fresh beige (07) I just use for setting my regular foundation. It has a mattifying finish and holds my makeup in place throughout the whole day, can you imagine that?! An extraordinary product, really! I also love it on the days I only use a BB cream and just want to add a bit more coverage. I got the refill version first as I had to choose the darkest shade available in Slovenia, but will probably buy a lighter one in the silver casing so that it will be nicer to look at during the colder months!

As I was saying, here you will see the major part of my makeup routine where the Sun Stripping Bronzer and High Glow Mineral Highlighting Powder by Catrice were playing a significant role! I already mentioned the bronzer from the Soleil d’Été limited edition here and I can just reaffirm that I love using this product, it matches my complexion perfectly and should without a doubt be part of their standard collection. I also used to finish my look with a baked highlighter that creates a subtle glow on my cheeks. This one is not that intense, but is very buildable if you want to achieve a shiny look.

On my lashes I’ve been using the Bourjouis Volume 1 seconde, a waterproof mascara that I wanted to test out during the summer. Honestly, I didn’t like the mascara at first – it was very runny and has weird plastic balls on the brush (I have no clue what these are for). However, it dried up slightly after a week and it’s been a joy to use ever since. It also worked great during that horrible heat we had this year and there were no black smudges underneath my eyes, mission complete!

Last but not least, my Yankee Candle obsession is real, you guys! I bought this cute rose candle Summer Scoop during summer sales and it’s been reminding me of this year’s summer all the time! I just hope it will last me for a few weeks, I want to preserve this feeling for a few more months…. :)
