My opinion about the Bourjois CC cream?

25. 5. 2015

Hi everyone! I hope you’re having a blast these days, summer is around the corner and one thing you have to focus on is a good protection against UV rays. It’s not a secret that too much sun exposure can damage your skin and the one thing I’m looking for are products with at least some protection. Last October, I bought the Bourjois CC cream with SPF 15 in shade Rose Beige 33 and it turned out to be a bit too dark for me at the time. As I’m already quite tanned at the moment, the foundations I used in the past few months just aren’t dark enough any more. So, I pulled this little product out of the drawer and used it a couple of times.

However, I’m not that pleased with this CC cream. It is thought to correct dark circles under the eyes and redness on your skin, but also make your skin look more refreshed. The cream has an unbelievable coverage for a CC cream, very similar to foundations with lighter coverage, and blends in the skin beautifully. And if I like these aspects so much, how come I won’t use it any more, you may ask? Well, I’m sorry to say, but this foundation doesn’t dry on my skin at all. It stays in a form of a thick cream that doesn’t soak into the skin at all and just worsens throughout the day. I also applied the compact powder to set it in, but that didn’t make even a slight difference. And I cannot say how excruciating it was to be around for the whole day and have this strange feeling that I have a whole cake on my face, if you know what I mean.

I’m very sorry I cannot wear it, because it really is a lovely product, the coverage is great and it fits my skin perfectly. And I love the Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer, its texture is the biggest opposite and I still recommend it to everyone. But I also heard that the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation doesn’t dry at all, probably in the same way than this CC cream. I’m pretty sure I won’t try any foundations from Bourjois for quite some time, I will definitely be trying it out before I purchase it. If I look on the bright side, I gave it to my sister who likes it much more than I do ;)

I’m so sorry for the lack of posts recently, my exams are close and I really have to dedicate a lot of my time to studying. Otherwise, I hope you’re having a great time. June (**AND MY BIRTHDAY**) is almost here, *YAYYYY* !! I wish you a wonderful start of the week ♥

Nail Polish Empties #1

28. 4. 2015

IMG_7152_Fotor

I did some sort of a spring cleaning in my nail polish drawer the other day and realised I’ve used up quite many bottles. I consider a nail polish to be used up when there is very little polish left or when it starts to get so dry that it is impossible to apply. Unfortunately, this means that some bottles are still half full (I’m optimistic in this case) when I stop using them. And since there are very few blog posts addressing this matter, I decided to show you all the bottles I managed to use up or have dried out in the last year.

IMG_7141_Fotor_Fotor

The first three empties are all from Revlon, one of my favorite nail polish brands. The first one is Autumn Berry, a glamorous burgundy shade with golden shine that I used up entirely. Then we have two shimmery nude shades, a peachy Sheer Peach and Sheer Mauve, which is on a slightly violet side. I was using all three constantly and there is not a single (useful) drop left! The brush is surprisingly long and thin, which is why the nail polish is quite difficult to apply when it dries a bit. Nevertheless, they were very long lasting and opaque; if I found any similar shade, I would buy it immediately without hesitation.

IMG_7149_Fotor

The next one is a gorgeous IsaDora nail polish in a dusty green shade Combat Khaki. Another one that was very pleasant to wear and this one did not leave any yellow stains on my nails, which is surprising for a green or blue shade. And it was was long lasting too! However, there was a very small amount of nail polish in this one, only 6 ml compared to the Revlon’s 14.7 and Essie’s 15 ml.  ♦  Sadly, one of my Essie’s nail polishes found a place in this category, my favorite burgundy shade Shearing Darling. Well, I’m very disappointed that this one is impossible to apply, because there is still a half of the nail polish left in the bottle! It dried out quite a bit in the first six months of use and I’ve been storing it ever since, just in case if I find any alternative to save it! If not, I’ll be happy to buy it again.    The last one is the Broadway Nails Nail Strengthener base coat with garlic extract that promises to strengthen and hydrate the nails. I’ll be honest, I didn’t see any difference in my nails and I’ve been using it as a base coat for a whole year. So, it’s just fine as a base and is also very economical to use, but it didn’t strengthen my nails in any way.

Well, these are the first six bottles I managed to save, I threw away around ten bottles in my previous cleaning session. Now that I’m thinking, I haven’t seen any blogger talking about empty nail polish bottles, I hope I’m not the only one who is using them up like the world is coming to an end! :D I wish you a wonderful week! ♥

Bourjouis Healthy Mix Concealer – Review

15. 4. 2015

IMG_7007

IMG_7009

If you ask me, concealers are always very useful. But there are times when they come in particularly handy, especially when I use foundations with lighter coverage. I’ve tried quite a few liquid high store concealers, but none of them provided as much coverage as this little gem. After a thoughtful consideration and a thorough research on the Internet, I decided to try out the Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer in the medium shade 52. I’ve been testing it for a while now and already featured it briefly in my February and March favorites.

According to the packaging, apricot extract provides radiance while raspberry extract activates the microcirculation. I’ll be honest with you, I have no idea whether my skin is radiant or starts to microcirculate after I apply it, but the Healthy Mix concealer provides exactly what I need: an instant high coverage that lasts for the whole day. I have a bit visible under eye dark circles that were practically impossible to cover with any cream concealer – until now! The peachy undertone perfectly neutralizes a slightly blue shade under my eyes and some natural redness on my cheeks. It also takes care of any other imperfections on my skin and blends in great even when the foundation has a bit different shade.

As for the use, be aware that I’m not an expert in any way, this is just my preferable way to use it when it comes to an under eye area ;) I apply small dots under my eyes in a V-shape and then blend it well with a flat Jessup brush … basically all over that part and even over the upper part of the cheeks. If necessary, I add another layer. I can definitely see a difference in the after picture. Besides covering the black circles, the concealer evened out a slightly red area above the cheeks. Quite impressive!

Coll

All in all, this concealer is perfect for those with normal to mixed skin, because it can be a bit drying. This doesn’t bother me, but those with very dry skin would probably feel some tension in those parts. Anyway, the tube of 10 ml costs around € 7 and will, at least for me, last for quite some time. Do you use any other concealer with similar coverage? If you do, please let me know, I’m always interested in testing out new products! :)

Essence LOVE & sound cuticle tattoos – Hot or Not?

12. 4. 2015

IMG_6984

IMG_6958

Temporary tattoos are becoming increasingly popular and I like it a lot! I especially love the golden tattoos that have been everywhere for the last year; I’m pessimistic, but still hope to find something in Slovene stores soon. So, yesterday I found the Essence cuticle tattoos in Ethno Girls Ahead (10) from their LOVE & sound collection and they are sooo cute! I immediately fell in love with ethno patterns, especially with small dots, a feather, an infinity symbol and an arrow  These are very small temporary tattoos that can be applied above your nail or any other part of the body. You simply choose the pattern, cut it out, remove the foil and press the tattoo on a clean and dry skin for 5 seconds. Then slowly remove the paper and it’s done, easy peasy!

IMG_6962

I think it looks great, I would never want to have a permanent tattoo on such visible parts, so the temporary ones are a great idea if you go on a festival (Coachella-style!), for a night out or just for a coffee. And they will definitely look great in summer! However, I was deeply disappointed when I realised that the both tattoos were almost gone after only an hour. It seems like the glue is so ineffective that you have to apply the tattoo just before you go somewhere, otherwise you unintentionally remove it with clothes. I’ll try to apply it to some other parts and see how long lasting they will be there, maybe somewhere on the forearm or the shoulder. What do you think about temporary tattoos, hot or not? :)

Take care ♥

February & March favorites ◊ 2015

3. 4. 2015

IMG_6747

Let’s finally talk favorites, shall we? Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to show you my February favorites last month, but that shouldn’t be a problem because I used a lot of these products throughout both February and March. When I don’t have much time (which is practically all the time lately), I want to use effective products that I can rely on. Here is really just a small section of everything I love at the moment; sadly, I cannot make a post about 20 products, can I? Or can I? ;)

 IMG_6735

The only non-beauty favorite has been the Clipper Organic Detox Infusion with hibiscus, nettle, liquorice and aloe vera. This must be one of the best teas I’ve ever tried, it is so sweet and perfectly sour, smells like a bouquet of spring flowers and the color is so intense that you can immediately tell the tea is completely organic. And don’t be afraid of brown tea bags, because they are actually unbleached. I would never imagine anyone would bleach bags just for visual reasons, what’s wrong with the brown ones? Ughh, I’ll never understand that.    You may know that I love moisturizers and body lotions, but I completely forgot to use them in winter. This may be because I obviously wore no shorts and skirts, but spring is a completely different story! Thank goodness that I got the Fruit of the Earth’s Cocoa butter as a gift in the drugstore, because I finally felt how moisturized skin looks like again. Besides nourishing the skin with aloe vera and vitamin E, it makes the dry patches completely soft and leaves a pleasant scent of cocoa. All in all, a great product!  ♦  And now it is the time to let you know about the best concealer in town, the Bourjois Healthy mix Concealer. This thing is beyond amazing, if you’re looking for a long lasting concealer with high coverage, this is one of the best you can find in drugstores in my opinion. It flawlessly covers any imperfections and does not fade at all throughout the day. I’ll write a separate post about this one soon!    I began using the perfect spring scent again, the Yves Rocher’s Tendre Jasmin eau de parfum. I already dedicated one post to it in autumn and you can read about it here. The best thing is that a few sprays will last for the whole day, believe me. If you like fresh and floral perfumes, you should really try this one out! :)

IMG_6723

The last three lip products have been saving my lips for the past two months. A great treat for dry lips is the Body Shop Honeymania lip balm and I got it from my friend as a very late Christmas gift, it is so cool to receive small unexpected gifts after the season is over! ♥ Anyway, I like everything with honey, so it is no surprise that I fell in love with this one even before I tried it out for the first time. It is very thick and moisturizing, but also stays on the lips for a long time. I guess there is no The Body Shop lip balms I wouldn’t like!    My sister kindly bought two identical Alverde lipsticks for both of us for no reason, she’s so nice! This one is in shade sweet berry (60) and although I don’t have many positive experiences with Alverde lipsticks (I got an orange one last year, it was so popular shade at the time, but I honestly looked like a giant sick pumpkin!), I’m impressed with it. The formula is very sheer, but still emphasizes the natural color of the lips. In addition, its small shimmer is not noticeable at all.  ♦  The last product is the Maybelline Colorama lip gloss in 289. This one is just a basic lip gloss with a pink undertone and some glitter, nothing special, but comes in handy when I want some color but not in a lipstick form.

Well, that would be all from my part in this post! I will make another batch of the brownie bliss balls today, I sure hope they will last until Monday :D Anyway, let the Easter festivities begin!

Take care

Maybelline Color Tattoo: On and on Bronze & My Collection

17. 3. 2015

IMG_6240IMG_6277

I cannot express enough how much I adore the Maybelline Color Tattoo eye shadows. Last week I added a new golden bronze shade to my collection – On and on Bronze (35). I’ve been eyeing this one up for weeks and it was the last shade I really wanted to lay my hands on. As with any Color Tattoo eye shadow, I apply this one with my fingertips all over the lid and then blend it either with my fingertip or a blending brush. The formula is the easiest to blend if I compare it to the other ones, but I am sure it will dry a bit in the course of the year. Their lasting power is insane, although I have hooded eyes these eyeshadows last for hours without fading or smudging.

I have four shades in total: Pink Gold, Metallic Pomegranate, On and on Bronze, and Permanent Taupe. I use them every single day and believe me when I say you will have them for ages. It seems practically impossible to me to use them up, I’ve been using the Permanent Taupe for almost two years and there is still so much product left in the jar!

IMG_6255

IMG_6264

I find it quite hard to wear bright pink on the eyes, but the Pink Gold is such an easy shade to wear. With a silver undertone, a tiny bit is perfect for highlighting the under-brow bone. Otherwise it is a wonderful base for a more neutral eye look. I find the Metallic Pomegranate the hardest to wear, the shade is somewhere between brown and aubergine when you blend it in, and contains some gold shimmer. I use it when I’m doing smoky eyes only. As for the On and on Bronze, I love the golden and bronze hue that creates an effortless look. Just a bit of an eyeliner in the corner and you’re good to go! (I finally learned how to use an eyeliner on my hooded eyes, I’ll tell you more about it soon!) Last but not least, we have the Permanent Taupe, a perfect taupe shade that is easily buildable from a light to an intense taupe.

I’m so disappointed that we don’t get any limited editions in Slovenia, I really wanted to try out some of the Leather Limited Edition that was issued last year, especially the neutral Creamy Beige and deep brown Chocolate Suede. Either way, I hope Maybelline will never discontinue these gorgeous eye shadows, they really do make my makeup routine much easier :)

On another note, I apologize for the lack of post recently. After finishing my translation internship a week ago, it was difficult to go back on tracks. I have so much regular work to do for my studies that I can hardly find time to take pictures in a decent light and then write a post about it! I just needed to complain a bit, I’ll be just fine ;)

Mini Sephora haul

6. 3. 2015

IMG_6130

Me, my sister and my mom spontaneously decided to go shopping in Gorizia recently. Besides strolling around and going for a coffee, we were also – shopping! :) I got a bunch of things from Ikea (I’m in love with their mugs and bowls and candles and stationery … basically everything!!) and a few clothing items, but I have to mention I went to Sephora for the first time in my life, yayyy   You can imagine my joy when I noticed the Sephora sign a few stores ahead, my heart started racing like mad, haha! As I didn’t expect to come across Sephora that day, I didn’t have the chance to properly think about what to get. This is why I randomly decided to get a nail polish and a blush from the Sephora brand which I heard is quite awesome.

IMG_6123

IMG_6124

Their nail polish selection is just crazy, they have so many colors! Because I cannot help my obsession with red nails, I went for another red nail polish in shade red excess. It’s a gorgeous deep wine/red color (that, again, looks much lighter in the pictures), maybe a bit too on the autumn-y side, but still very wearable. The opacity is great, but I nevertheless apply two coats because it’s a bit runny and very thin layers of nail polish chip off immediately on my nails. I’ll post swatches some other time, preferably with another camera…

IMG_6165

The second product is a beautiful peachy hydrating blush in shade coral flush. I’ve been looking for such a color for so long and now that I have it, I literally use it all the time. This is a soft peachy blush with delicate gold shimmer that aren’t visible at all once it’s applied on the cheeks. As the name already indicates, you can create a lovely flush that somehow blends with the skin and seems completely natural.

The store had lots of amazing brands including Benefit, Nars, Too Faced and a few more that I cannot remember at the moment. Pure make up heaven, but I believe it is insane to spend €30 for a product just for the sake of it. And let’s be honest, I already have enough makeup for my lifetime and the last thing I need is to pile it up while I should finish at least some of it :D

Have you already tried any products from Sephora? :)

Take care
