THIS LONG-AWAITED SPRING I’VE BEEN LOVING …

20. 4. 2018

img_0034img_0042img_9999img_9984Rejoice, warm weather is finally here! I mean, this winter was rough and the fact that I don’t need to wrap myself in a ton of clothes and a huge scarf is a huge success. I’m celebrating the beginning of the best part of the year with colorful, glowy looks and floral scents. Let’s take a look!

As I adore lightweight creams and serums, the Vichy Normaderm Anti Age is a perfect choice for my skin at the moment. Vitamin C, salicylic and glycolic acid are efficient against the first signs of ageing, blemishes and tired complexion. This treatment is perfect as it sinks into the skin in a matter of seconds and works great as a simple prep before applying foundation. I’ve also been loving the Detox Eye Roller by First Aid Beauty, a wonderful serum that is massaged into the delicate under-eye area using a cooling roller ball. When I saw that caffeine is just one of its many wonderful ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid and peptides, I was sold! I cannot say that it reduces wrinkles, but I love the feeling it creates and a little massage here and there isn’t a bad thing, too. The third skincare item is the Herbio AHA Fruit Mask, a lovely face mask that’s been on my favorites list for months. There are times when I use it a lot and then slowly forget about it, but it truly is a very nice product. My skin is so plump and glowy after use and I love that it doesn’t dry my skin at all.

As for makeup, colorful eyes are my favorite pick most of the time. I cannot emphasize enough how much I adore the Makeup Revolution eye shadow palettes! They offer such a wide range of shades, plus they are insanely affordable for what you get. My two faves at the moment are the Shoph X and Flawless 4, eyeshadow palettes, I wrote extensively about them in my previous post (you can read more by clicking on each one of them). Although I love pairing bright shades with a neutral lip or just a little bit of my Clinique lip oil, I also love adding some depth to my lips. And not just for that, I found this amazing L.O.V. lip stick in shade Angelina’s belief in my makeup drawer and I’ve been obsessed with its texture ever since! It is somewhere between a brown and a red, but looks pretty neutral on my lips. I only need to do a small retouch after my lunch, otherwise stays put throughout most of my day. I love it!

Last but not least, my hectic schedule calls for some relaxing aromatherapy sessions whenever possible. As stated before, I love floral scents that remind me of spring, which is finally here! I cannot get my hands off of the L’Occitane’s miniature fragrances that I got in their Premium Advent Calendar last year (by the way, it was worth every penny and I’m sure it will be mine this year as well!). Néroli & Orchidée is so elegant and fresh, perfectly blending floral notes and fruity scents. And although there is a slight hint of lemon, Verveine is the one to go for if you’re really into citruses! Verbena, geranium and lemon tree make a perfect summer perfume. This one brings back so many memories of my teenage years as my mom, my sister and I used up several bottles years ago, I love it!

My hands have finally recovered after experiencing so much cold this year! No surprise that my fave hand cream at the moment also comes from L’Occitane. Since I love their Cherry Blossom fragrance, there was no doubt I would like their Cherry Blossom Hand Cream, too. Works like a charm and leaves a gorgeous scent that sticks around for a couple of minutes. And the product that’s been helping me sleep lately is the This Works Stress Check, a wonderful therapeutic roll on that I actually received for Christmas from one of my friends. It consists of pure Eucalyptus, Frankincense and Lavender essential oils that immediately calm me down. Just a few rolls on my wrists and I’m good to go straight into bed.

This is my recap of all the items I’ve been loving these past weeks. If we share a favorite or you have some other products on your list, please let us all know in the comments :)

THE EYE SHADOW PALETTE THAT HAS IT ALL

13. 4. 2018

img_0283img_0263img_0253img_0335img_0355img_0300img_0329img_0394

Hi, lovelies! You have probably realized by now that colorful eye shadows are a huge trend right at the moment. And this is not surprising as so many new eye shadow palettes that have been released in the last 6 months have a whole range of colorful shades. Intense earth tones are all I need nowadays as well – various shades of red, orange and brown that perfectly complement a neutral outfit.

My eye shadow palette collection has expanded once more last week! Ličila.si sent me the amazing Soph X palette by Makeup Revolution created in a collaboration with a British blogger and Youtuber SophDoesNails. This is an eye shadow palette that has it all: 14 matte and 14 shimmery shades, a variety of neutrals and transition shades, but also light shimmers and some bold colors. And ever since I attended an event organised by Bottega Verde Slovenia on Friday, where the amazing and talented makeup artist Anja Kolnec showed us hot makeup trends with intense eye makeup, my wish is to try and recreate a similar look on myself soon! Anyhow, I love these shades, the nude and the shimmery ones have some fallout, but otherwise is similar to the other Makeup Revolution London palettes. Just beware that the blue shimmery shade in the middle isn’t what it looks like! It’s actually duochrome and turns into a brown/blue shade when applied to the skin (the rightmost shade on my hand).

However, this beauty was not the only thing I received! The package also included a gorgeous rose gold highlighter from their Ingot Highlighter collection. There are three shades available, the other two are gold and platinum. Although the rose gold looks quite dark, it works pretty great as a highlighter on my complexion. But I also love that it can be used as a shimmery blush or an eye shadow. I watched a Youtube video about these three and they are sooo buildable, it makes me wanna buy the platinum one as well haha!

Nevertheless, this isn’t over yet! Ličila.si team has kindly given me a coupon code for a free shipping, so if you’re from Slovenia and want to do some shopping with a free shipping, you can use the code ‘ZENSKA‘. Thank you so much for such a lovely surprise, Ličila.si!

BLACK AS NIGHT BUT GENTLE AS A LAMB

2. 4. 2018

img_9834img_9860img_9889dr-organic-active-charcoalAlthough I’ve always had a soft spot for organic skincare products, I only recently tried my first activated charcoal items. I don’t know, I just didn’t get the hype about those intense black masks everyone was raving about. However, this Dr. Organic Activated Charcoal line is nothing but a pure joy to use: so gentle to the skin, but very purifying. My favorite product is the face mask, which has a lovely texture, applies easily and doesn’t dry too much on the skin. I also love the face wash, which can be sightly drying at times, and the face scrub, which has tiny particles that remove the dead skin cells without causing irritation. The body wash is among my favorites, too, particularly because it doesn’t foam and has an amazing, aromatherapy-like scent. Unfortunately, I’m not a big fan of the shampoo and conditioner. My scalp is irritated instantly and just cannot adapt to these products. The conditioner is maybe even not that bad, but I tried the shampoo countless times and nothing changes. And this is not a bad thing, we just don’t get along and maybe I’ll give it to one of my friends so at least one person will be glad to use! it :)

GIRL SQUAD AND GLITTER

18. 3. 2018

img_9717img_9714img_9740img_9774Hi, my lovely ladies! My lunch is in the making (coconut curry with veggies and basmati rice, my favorite!) and I want to take the opportunity to share my thoughts about four Essence products that I received not long ago. This is a highly important post: I’m obsessed with their quality and all of them are so useful – especially if you’re planning to go on any kind of music festival this summer. Believe me, these events require a bunch of arrangements months in advance, my best friend told me everything abot that ;)

First of all, I received two makeup brushes form their Girl Squad limited edition. To be honest, I was never particularly interested in their brushes, but these looked promising on the internet. They are shaped as ladies in the front and at the back, so cute! The first one is called Soft Sophie, such a funny name! It’s an all-around face brush and I like to use it for applying my loose powder on the under-eye area. The second one, however, is called Contouring Carla and has a different shape. This one is meant to use for contouring and highlighting, but I’m not particularly keen on this one. I just think it’s so difficult to use! I usually just dab the top into my highlighter and use it like that, but would probably work well with a bronzer in a gel or stick form. Nevertheless, the quality is decent for the price and they have 9 brushes to choose from, which is also great.

Last but not least, I also received a Glitter Primer and loose star glitter from their Get your glitter on! collection. And this is what I’ve been talking about at the beginning. If you’re planning to go somewhere special in the summer (or you’re already planning your Christmas and NY’s Eve makeup look like I am – this may sound excessive, but I’ve looked everywhere in December to find some loose glitter and couldn’t find it anywhere!), go take a look and you may find some interesting glitters or pigments. They offer 11 glitters and 4 pigments as well as a Glitter Primer. So far I have only tried it with the stars on my hand as there are not many occasions to wear glitter stars nowadays, but they stayed put until I took them off about an hour later. The primer has a beautiful rosy sheen and I’m sure it creates a nice transition into the glitter or pigment. It may even turn out to be an amazing eye shadow primer, but I have yet to find out. I think this whole line will be part of their spring/summer offer so I hope they aren’t sold out yet. As I said, I want to make sure I find some amazing glitter that will come in handy when the right occasion comes :)

I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!

HOMEMADE & ORGANIC: MEET NELIPOT!

11. 3. 2018

img_7550img_7573img_7558img_7536While my makeup choices are not that conscious most of the time, I am pretty strict when it comes to deodorants. I declared war against aluminium salts years ago, and although some deodorants are quite disappointing, I have some favorites that will get me through (almost) any stressful situation that comes my way. However, the selection of approved-by-Vesnaenviolet products has expanded not for just one product, but I dare say for a whole brand! I am happy to announce that Nelipot deodorants have made it thorough my careful and rigorous selection process.

This post has been in the making for months and I have already used both deodorants up. Although I received three products at the Beauty Conference last November, my focus is almost entirely on the two metal pots–I will get back to the Shverkaj powder later on. Just to describe the brand very briefly: Nelipot is a Slovenian brand established by two amazing human beings. Tina and Simon started their story by making their own deodorant cream that actually worked in their kitchen! I love the design and creative names of the products. Even the name of the brand is so original as it means the one who wanders barefoot. I love how perfectly they blend tradition with a modern approach to cosmetics. Needless to say, all of their products are cruelty-free and actually beneficial for our bodies and skin, what a treat!

As already mentioned, I received two deodorant creams, i.e. SHAC and IROF. At first, I was really skeptical because good organic deodorant creams are really hard to find. Especially because I had a very bad experience with a cream deodorant by Lush (that happened around 10 years ago, but the memory of that disaster is still very much alive!!). After a few weeks of looking at the pots on my desk I decided to give them a go and oh my, I am so glad that I did. SHAC is is made of coconut oil, sodium bicarbonate, a number of other nourishing oils along with the scents of tea tree and lemongrass. IROF, on the other hand, is even stronger and is actually meant for men. It is filled with the scent of frangipane and bergamot and is nevertheless a great option even for women!

As already mentioned, the third item is the Shverkaj powder. This is a charcoal-based teeth cleanser in powder form with some Asian herbs that give it a fresh kick. I gave it to my sister because I am very picky when it comes to toothpastes, so she tried it out for me. She said that ginger and eucalyptus make it very refreshing, but you have to get used to it. Powder products for teeth are not that common after all :)

To recap, I loved both cream deodorants and luckily didn’t see any difference between the two with regard to their effectiveness. Both were amazing and I am looking forward to ordering other scents from their online store!

FAVORITE MAKEUP ITEMS OF 2017

26. 2. 2018

img_9622img_9609img_9573img_9638img_9642I know I’m really late to the party, but I truly wanted to talk you through my favorite makeup items of 2017. Last year was pretty eventful makeup-wise, I started loving colorful eyes and maybe a little less eye-catching lips. But fear not, we will discuss every single item that really deserves your attention.

The Makeup Revolution Flawless 4 palette is my absolute favorite when it comes to catchy eyesThis is a very versatile eyeshadow palette, the shades ranging from matte and shimmery neutrals through colorful orange, pink and red shades all the way to deep nudes and black. I mean, is there any other shade you need in your daily life? And their wear-time is amazing, they blend beautifully and have a great pigmentation. And all that for just a little under € 13!

Another eye product that I surprisingly haven’t mentioned so far is the L’Oréal Paradise Extatic mascara. I love how thick my eyelashes look after just one coat, but can be slightly clumpy – I actually prefer a slightly edgy look, but not everyone enjoys it. This is my second tube in 7 months and there could be various reasons for that. 1) I like it so much that I go through very quickly, or 2) which is probably the real reason that I discussed on Instagram with Ana, a lovely blogger behind the Mad about red blog. She did a small investigation and actually discovered that there is a very small amount of mascara in the tube compared to other brands or even other L’Oréal mascaras (9.1 ml)! However, I’ve done a research of my own and it’s not that bad as there are other mascaras that have around 8 ml of the product for the same price. Nevertheless, the mascara costs around € 15, which is not a negligible amount of money, but you can occasionally get it on sales in Slovenia.

As I said, I was not that keen on buying or wearing that many lipsticks last year. I simply have so many that I only cycle between a few that I really enjoy (such as Ruby Woo by Mac or Matt Confident by Milani). However, there are two items that really surprised me. The first is the Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil, a very thick lip gloss that is so satisfying on the lips! It comes with a big doe foot applicator that covers the whole lip with just one stroke. It has a very glossy finish and I love that it doesn’t wear off quickly. The red undertone is just slightly visible, so it is perfect to intensify the natural color of your lips. The second one, however, is the L’Occitane Pivoine Sublime lip balm. They have several shades available, and though I still have a fair amount left, I think I will also go for the orange one in the spring. Again, a perfect lip balm that adds some color to your lips, but feels amazing and moisturizing.

Last but not least, I have two makeup items for the cheeks that really marked my 2017. The first is the Sun Stripping Bronzer by Catrice, my favorite bronzer since the moment it came into my life. I’ve been using it religiously since August and you can see the lines have not faded at all! I haven’t reached for any other bronzer for months and I’m super sad that it was only part of their summer limited edition. The second palette that took my heart is the Makeup Revolution Pro Amplified Strobe and Highlightning Palette. This is the most perfect set of four pressed and four creamy highlighters. They have the prettiest sheen ever and look amazing on the face. I love the creamy ones, I apply them with a sponge and they just melt together with the foundation.

Well, these are my top six makeup products of 2017. I know we’re almost in March, but I really wanted to recap my beauty favorites that I still use on a daily basis! :)

WHAT’S NEW AT L.O.V. COSMETICS

16. 2. 2018

img_9125img_9126img_9182img_9149img_9228img_9152
At the beginning of every new season, L.O.V. Cosmetics releases some amazing makeup items that are perfect if you like to be on the trendy side regarding makeup. I rarely have time to go to the store and properly take a look at everything they have to offer, so I feel very lucky to have been able to test these lovely products. The holographic trend is very hot right now and to be completely honest, I love that there are some edgy makeup products we can incorporate into our makeup routine without anyone judging!

I was most intrigued by their Aura Glow Primer. It comes in a sleek pink bottle which is already a treat to look at, but I’m even more impressed with how well it performs on my skin! Its peachy undertone and tiny shimmer create a perfect glow, not too excessive, but just enough to make your face slightly brighter. I won’t say my makeup lasts any longer, because I’ve already tested several primers and I don’t see any difference in the wear-time. But this one preps my skin very nicely, I love it! Next I received the Brow Lights pomade that has two separate compartments. The first one contains a pomade while the second actually consists of an oil-based highlighter. I apply the pomade with a small brow brush, which gives a very nice, natural finish. Then I add a tiny bit of highlighter under my brows for some glow.

As for the cheeks, they sent me two exciting products. As already mentioned above, holographic effect is insanely popular at the moment and although you can quickly add too much, you cannot go wrong with this palette. I’m talking about the LOVillusion holographic highlighter palette for eyes, face and body combining three different shades, i.e. with pink, purple and green undertone. I mostly use it as a highlighter on my cheeks, on the inner corners of my eyes and under my brow bone. The pink one is also very similar to the Cindy-Lou Manizer by the Balm (my sister has one and instantly asked me if I bought that, too!). Well, don’t be scared, you can mix all three shades for that unforgettable iridescent look! The next cheeky product is the BLUSH Liaison, a dewy gel blush stick. Mine is in shade Alluring Peach and though I like the lovely flush of color on my cheeks, I don’t think the brush you get on the other side does any good. It completely messed up my foundation the first time so I’m applying it with the beautyblender ever since (and it works like a charm!).

Last but not least, I got to test out one of their new lippies as well. I received a neutral LIPaffaire Color & Care lipstick in shade Angelina’s belief. This is the first really nudy-brown shade I have in my collection and it goes surprisingly well with my style. The texture is very moisturizing and nourishing, but nevertheless stays on my lips for a pretty decent period of time.

All in all, I’m really impressed with their new products and I really think this brand has become a real competition to the other drugstore brands. I have yet to try their foundations, if you already have some experience with them, please let me know! :)
