LOOKFANTASTIC BEAUTY BOX – JULY 2018

28. 7. 2018

img_2096img_2070img_2110img_2078
I had really good intentions to discuss the July Lookfantastic Beauty Box before the month is almost over, but my plan fell through. As I said in my previous beauty box post in June, I decided to go for a 12-month subscription this time. I feel this is the only way to try the products I would probably never buy. You never know whether the item will be suitable for your skin, so this is the perfect way to experiment with skincare. The goal of the July edition was to embody our bronze goddesses, what a claim! Now let’s go through all six products, some of them I already love, while the others are quite disappointing.

I was most interested in the Freematic Highlighter Mono in shade Sparked Ray. I’m always into new highlighters and if they create a wonderful sheen, I’m sold! I really like the champagney shade of this one, great for different skin tones. It creates a nice glow and I’ve been reaching for it all the time since I got it. It’s also versatile enough to be used on other parts of your face, collar bones or shoulders as well! Next is the Reflection Bain Chromatique Shampoo by Kerastase. I was really looking forward to this shampoo, but I have to say it doesn’t do anything in particular. It has a nice scent, but I don’t think it’s worth € 25 … I prefer investing in good hair masks or oils that will actually leave the hair really soft (I currently LOVE the Kérastase Elixir Ultime)! Another product that is interesting to try is the Filorga UV Bronze After Sun, some kind of a tan intensifier. This is supposed to be applied after tanning to intensify your tan, but I haven’t had the right opportunity to try it out. I applied it once, it has small glitter that looks so cute on the skin! It will be great for the warm evenings on my second vacation :)

And then there were three facial products. Although I’m not a huge fan of face oils, I must admit that applying the Lancer Omega Hydrating Oil after my evening skincare is rather nice. However, I do need to be careful, one drop is really enough for the entire face. The two things I’m not really keen on are the Sebiaclear Gel Moussant Cleanser and Pure Skin Face Cleanser. I don’t know why they think we’d need two cleansers, especially because there were several cleansers in previous boxes. These two will go with me on vacation as well, I really don’t need any more cleansers in my bathroom!

All in all, there are some products that I really like, but otherwise I’m not that excited about most of them. Nevertheless, I truly hope that the August one will be more breathtaking! I do have to find a silver lining, I just purchased a 12-month subscription after all :D

ORANGE

11. 7. 2018

img_2037img_2035Orange is without a doubt an amazing, vibrant shade that goes well to any summer outfit. However, not any orange shade cuts it through to my makeup vanity! If I only had to choose one nail polish to use for the rest of the year, my answer would be really simple: I’d pick the Collistar gloss nail lacquer with gel effect in shade Arancio Solare 542. I bought it around two months ago because I really needed a new nail polish. Honestly, I stopped buying new ones last year as soon as I realised my nail polish count significantly exceeded 50. So, I wanted something new and tried to find a real orangey orange, which is really hard to find to my surprise! There aren’t many orange shades available, and even when there are, the color is always more on the red side.

This is how I found my Arancio Solare, wore it non-stop (always two layers, of course), and almost used it up. The lacquer itself is really long lasting as well, probably one of the best ones I have at the moment. The bottle looks quite worn down, but I’m sure I’ll use it up to the last drop. What can I say, I love myself some statement nails!

LOOKFANTASTIC BEAUTY BOX – JUNE 2018

25. 6. 2018

img_1471img_1481img_1495img_1519img_1508I finally found some time to go through the Lookfantastic Beauty Box I received in June! This one was the second special edition of the year that consisted of 7 products instead of 6. Most importantly, it was aimed at providing hydration and luminosity – all we need in these summer eves, am I right? ;)

I was really intrigued by the . The February box included their Pro-Collagen Marine Cream and I love it so much that I was really eager to try the wash as well. Needless to say, I love using it and I look forward to taking it with me on summer vacation! There’s nothing better in the morning than a freshly washed face, if you ask me :) The second product is the , such an interesting and effective item! It comes in form of a paste and although it seems strange to massage a scrub-like texture onto the scalp, the result is nothing but incredible. It completely dissolves when applied and it seems to foam a lot under your fingertips. First of all, it really does create a lot of volume after drying, I was amazed to have even more voluminous hair than usual! And second of all, it leaves the hair with a nice, subtle rose scent that lingers around throughout the second day as well. I also like the The Ritual of Dao Body Cream by Rituals that has a very light and neutral scent. It does absorb into the skin very quickly, but I haven’t used it much because I have a bunch of other body creams to go through. Another body product is the , something all of us need to get some color without exposing ourselves to the sun too much! I used it a couple of times in the morning and applied it really carefully over my legs. However, I haven’t noticed any significant difference – but it’s also true I haven’t paid any attention to that either. I can say that if there was any tan, it was very even and neutral, because I would notice any spots if that wasn’t the case. There were also no marks on my clothes and I will surely use it again.

This box also came with the MÁDARA SOS Hydra Moisture+Radiance Mask, such a cute-looking mask/leave-in treatment! I really liked how it performed on my skin, but it does contain alcohol so it may be drying if you have sensitive skin. This leaves us with two products that I haven’t tried at all. I haven’t opened the Environmental Rescue Essential Day Cream yet, but it comes in such an interesting packaging! It’s supposed to provide hydration for whole 12 hours and I’m slightly skeptical about this statement. But it does contain some antioxidants, so it’ll be nice to try in that respect. Last but not least, the only makeup item was the Studio 10 Liquid Foil i-Radiance Metallic Shadow. It looks like a lip gloss with a doe foot applicator, but it’s actually a very fast drying liquid eye shadow with beautiful copper glitter. It’s very transparent and doesn’t look like a foil, but I believe it can be buildable. It would also be interesting to try it as a base and then apply loose glitter or pigments on top! And then a few sprays of a setting spray and you’re good to go!

Anyway, I really enjoyed testing this Lookfantastic Beauty Box and I decided to go for a 12-month subscription this time. Then I’ll surely have enough skincare items and makeup for years! :)

WHITE LINE ALL THE WAY FROM SIBERIA

21. 6. 2018

img_1347img_1394img_1372img_1431

I can still remember the moment when I first saw Natura Siberica in our stores. Their beautifully designed packaging immediately caught my attention and it’s even more beautiful and sleek today. I received their new skincare line perfect for a mixed skin type several weeks ago. Even when I saw some photos online, I already knew it would be something special. And it’s impossible for me to choose my favorite product as all of them are truly incredible!.

I was most interested to try the White Cleansing Butter that is firm to the look, but very soft to the touch. You simply massage a small amount onto the face, add some water to create an emulsion-like texture and rinse it off. As I usually have quite a lot of makeup on my face, I repeat the process once again. Although it’s incredibly buttery, there is no oily layer after use! Nevertheless, the Cleansing Micellar Water perfectly removes all the makeup as well without creating a lot of mess around the sink. I also love that it doesn’t sting my eyes, probably the only micellar water I’ve tried that isn’t irritating. As I said, the whole collection is fascinating and the White Purifying Face Mask won’t let you down either. Because the mask is very thick and buttery in consistency, it doesn’t dry and feels very moisturizing all the time. Natura Siberica also has a black line formulated for dry skin that is also worth checking out if you require a richer skincare. I honestly couldn’t be more excited for these product and would really recommend trying them out, especially if you’re into new textures and organic skincare!

LOOKFANTASTIC BEAUTY BOX – MAY 2018

27. 5. 2018

img_0707img_0703img_0766img_0752img_0718Two weeks ago I received the May edition of the Lookfantastic Beauty Box, well hello a bunch of new goodies! This month’s beauty box consists of six products, two of which are actually makeup items and I already tested both of them. Then there are three skincare bits and teeth whitening strips, so exciting!

I was most interested in the Sleek Makeup Face Countour Kit in shade Medium, but I have mixed feelings about this product. This contouring and highlighting duo comes in a small compact packaging with a mirror. Although such small mirrors are not very useful at home, they especially come in handy when travelling or on the go. I love that the contour shade is matt, but both bronzer as well as the highlighter are too powdery for me. They have a lot of fallout, the shade is too dark and I the highlighter doesn’t provide the sheen I usually go for. I may be biased because I already have a lot of great products, but this one just didn’t convince me. However, my sister loves it and uses both shades on the eyes, too – my opinion by no means applies to all people, that’s for sure :) The EYEKO Eye Do Liquid Eyeliner, however, is a completely different story! Despite my hooded eyes, the flick was almost intact in the afternoon and the intensity was still there in the evening. An amazing item, I really recommend trying it out if you’ve had some bad experience with felt tips.

Next there are three skincare products. The luxurious  was probably the most anticipated of them all by beauty lovers. It comes in the smallest packaging ever and I only tried it a couple of times, so I don’t believe I’ll be able to say whether I love it or not. My skin was fine the next day, but should probably invest around € 130 to take a good try – but I don’t see myself doing that in the immediate future, haha :) Another skincare item is the , a mask, moisturizer and primer all in one. To be honest, I haven’t tried it yet, but I will probably test it as a mask first and then as a moisturizer/primer. I will definitely keep you posted if it turns out to be amazing!

The third one is the SkinRepublic Bubble Purifying + Charcoal Face Sheet Mask, one of the hottest trends in skincare at the moment. Exposure to air creates bubbles and fruit acid is supposed to eliminate impurities, exfoliate and give a healthy and luminous glow. I haven’t tried it yet, but I look forward to testing it out! Last but not least, every box came with a package of four Spotlight Teeth White Strips. This is probably the most interesting item of this month’s beauty box in my opinion, particularly because I would never buy teeth whitening strips myself. I already tried them once and I LOVED the effect! The strips were so easy to use and I really feel my teeth look slightly whiter than before, they will be used up in no time!

This box was not that exciting as I thought it to be, I was really disappointed with the Sleek contouring duo. However, I love the eyeliner and the Spotlight Teeth White Strips, and I’m pretty sure that both masks and the cream will come in handy. So all in all, this was still a good value for the money and cannot wait to receive the June Lookfantastic Beauty Box!

ADVENTURE AWAITS

4. 5. 2018

img_0069img_0085img_0125img_0144Essence has been spoiling us with fantastic summer limited editions for years. The packaging of their new collection Adventure Awaits is so trendy and chic, lots of pink, pastels and golden details (a very Coachella-inspired theme!). This time I got the opportunity to test out the Collect moments, not things! bronzing eyeshadow palette full of of earth-toned shades. I’m not a huge fan of their eye shadows, but I decided to give them a try as I haven’t tried them out for several years. There are two light shades for applying into the inner corner of the eyes, two transition shades and two deeper eye shadows that are perfect for creating some definition in the outer part of the eyelid. I love earth-toned eye shadows and this palette will be a nice addition to my makeup collection!

The first three shades (and the first three swatches) have quite a chunky glitter, so you can expect some fallout. The first one is also very bright and almost white, a bit too much for me and I also feel this type of glitter would irritate my eyes. However, I love how easily all the other shades blend together and obviously, you don’t need to use all of them at once (have to admit, I adore applying just one eye shadow from time to time)!

The entire limited edition is already available in stores, I look forward to browsing though their new makeup items. The bronzer looks very intriguing and so do the golden tattoos, shiny body lotion and higlighting blotting paper. Is there anything you’d like to try from the new Essencce LE? :)

MY FIRST LOOKFANTASTIC BEAUTY BOX

24. 4. 2018

img_9826img_9747img_9774img_9798img_9820I cannot believe it took me almost ten years of my adult life to finally order my first skincare beauty box! I am so excited that I finally chose a three-month subscription to the Lookfantastic Beauty Box. I was intrigued by their March edition, which was really top-notch. It was worth whopping € 140 and had such amazing items that I really wanted to see what the April box will bring. Now I’m pretty sure that the next three editions will be bleh compared to the previous one, but I am nevertheless excited to try out some new products that would otherwise never find their way to my skincare routine. I actually recorded a Youtube video discussing everything in detail, but I don’t think I’m ready for the camera yet, and the editing seems way too complicated for my skill level at the moment. :D Let’s dive in!

The April Beauty Box is mainly dedicated to revitalising our skin with six different products. I love how carefully everything is wrapped, all the details give a very special touch to the whole experience. The first two things you see when you open the box are a copy of ELLE magazine and a small brochure where you can find all the info about the products and some tips, but also a sneak peek into the following Beauty Box.

The first product is a very nicely scented Dr. Botanicals Vegan Bergamot & Poppy Seed Exfoliating Body Bar. I haven’t tried it yet as I have a bunch of shower gels and scrubs to go through, but I think it will be a nice summer item. It is thought to exfoliate the skin and offer protection against free radicals while hydrating with Macadamia oil and Shea butter. Next is the , an activated charcoal mask designed to clear the skin and reduce pores. It creates a pleasant tingly feeling on my face, probably because a blend of glycolic, salicylic, lactic, mandelic, pyruvic, and tartaric acid starts working the second you apply it to your skin. Although the mask seems to be pretty effective, the tube is really small and I almost already used it up. Having said that, I cannot claim it does any wonders to the skin, but I sure hope so because a 50 g jar costs around € 50!

The April Beauty Box also includes the NUXE Creme Fraiche, an 48-hour moisturizing cream for normal skin. It has a very gentle scent, but it is slightly too thick for my taste (I prefer liquidy serums), so I gave it to one of my friends. Now, the most rich item of them all is the Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm, I’ve heard so many amazing things about this product! This luxurious cleanser is enriched with Moringa seed extract, wild sea fennel and Vitamin E and according to some Youtubers, it is supposed to remove all of your makeup. However, I’m not a big fan of makeup cleansers that need to be massaged onto wet skin, this is just too messy for my taste. But I do like to use it as part of my second cleansing in the evening, especially if I only use light skincare afterwards. But I still need to try it as an overnight treatment and I’m pretty sure Orange, Neroli, Mandarin, Jasmine and Rose essential oils would help me sleep as well – it has a divine scent! I nevertheless have a feeling that this little gem will stay put until the autumn and winter, I’m much more into gel textures at the moment.

s for makeup, this month’s box only comes with the PUR Fully Charged Magnetic Mascara, probably my least favorite product in this edition. This mascara doesn’t provide my lashes with the volume I usually go for. Don’t get me wrong, it beautifully lengthens the lashes and they look natural even after two or three coats, but I want them to have more volume. And it also isn’t that smudge-proof either, one eye drop was enough to create a huge mess under my eyes today. But yet again, some girls might have a completely different experience.

Last but not least, the sixth item is a set of ten Nip & Fab Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads. This is genius, instead of pouring glycolic acid toner onto a cotton pad, you simply get yourself infused cleansing pads that you just throw away after use! I already have a normal-sized container at home and this will be a cute little item to throw into my makeup bag when I’m travelling. I love Nip & Fab products, they offer such a wide range of affordable acids and I will probably do a separate post on that soon as I already have four or five of their items.

So, if you’re not familiar with how the subscription works here’s the deal: you have 4 possibilities, a) you simply buy a 1 month subscription for €20, b) a 3-month subscription for € 18 per month, c) a 6-month subscription for € 17 per month, or d) a 12-month subscription for € 15.50 per month. I went for a 3-month subscription so I’ll receive the Beauty Boxes that will come out in May and June, and then I’ll decide whether the subscription is something I would like to continue or not. I probably don’t need to emphasize that I’m really into testing new products at the moment, but am also sure that once you have a drawer full of samples you kinda don’t want to accumulate more. We will see about that, but I will most certainly keep you posted :) Take care, my loves!
