New in: Hair Edition

24. 12. 2014

rsz_img_4649

Here comes the second part of the New in section! Before I start, I just want to share some information about my hair type. I’d say I have medium brown color with slightly copper undertones. My hair is really healthy and although I dyed them a lot in high school when I had the shortest hair possible, I now love my hair color and wouldn’t change it at all (and would never cut it that short again!) . However, I do use a hair dryer every time I wash my hair because they are very thick, I cannot air dry them even in the summer.

rsz_img_4662

Let’s start with the Aussie 3-Minute Miracle Reconstructor conditioning treatment with Australian balm mint. This thing is amazing, I didn’t expect it to be as effective as it actually is. It leaves hair very soft and easy to brush through, plus it smells amazing! This package costs around € 1,5 and provides at least two uses, especially if you have shorter hair. Love!  ♦  The second product is the Alverde Hair Repair Fluid with avocado oil and shea butter. I was choosing between this one and the Alverde oil for hair with almond and argan oil I used up a year ago, but I wasn’t particularly fond of it. It was really greasy and thus difficult to use after washing my hair, so I decided to get the fluid this time. Again, I’m pretty impressed by how effective it is, it nourishes the hair with oils and makes them very soft, but it’s not greasy at all. It costs around € 3, a real bargain!  ♦  Next is the Remington Curl Create Wand (CI52W0). This wand really changed my hair styling routine. My hair is fairly straight and I like that very much, but if I want something extra once in a while, I use this curling wand and it does the job really well. I don’t curl all the hair very often, but I rather take every other section of hair to make them more messy. Then I just spray it with a hair spray and it’s done, simple as that! And what’s best, the wand comes with a heat resistant glove and believe me, it saved my hands from burning quite a few times! It costs € 34,99 in DM.

The last two products are the Schwarzkopf Gliss Hair Repair shampoo and conditioner for overstressed and strawy hair. As I’ve already mentioned before, my hair is really healthy and it’s not surprising that these two products aren’t exactly perfect for me. They make my hair shiny, but also greasy at the end of the first day which is obviously not something I’m looking for. I guess it should be used for damaged hair only. I’m defenitely not throwing it away, but I won’t use it very often from now on for sure. Each costs € 2,99 in DM.

I hope you are having a wonderful time with your family and loved ones this Christmas! Take care ♥

Christmas and New Year’s Eve Manicure

22. 12. 2014

I’ve been all about glitter for the past two weeks, and this won’t probably change until the holidays are over :)  Let me show you my three favorite festive manicures, all of them are very elegant and thus great for a dinner or a night out. The first step is to apply one coat of basecoat, I usually use the Brodway Nails Nail Strenghtener. Then you can proceed to any of these manicures! :)

Ombre Glitter: First, I applied two coats of the China Glaze nail polish in shade Diva Bride (216). The ombre effect is achieved by applying one thin coat of the Catrice Luxury Lacquers nail polish in shade Bronze Upon A Time starting in the middle of the nail. When it is dry, apply a bit thicker layer on the nail tip.

Glitter French Tips: I applied two coats of a taupe Maybelline Colorama nail polish in shade 165. Then I took the Catrice Luxury Lacquers nail polish in shade Bronze Upon A Time and applied the nail polish horizontally from one side of the nail tip to the other. It is a lot more simple than it might seem! :)

Red Nails and Silver Dots: This festive manicure is by far the easiest to make. I used the Maybelline Colorama red nail polish (15) and applied two coats. Then I took the Revlon nail polish in shade Silver Screen 098 and created small dots on the outer sides of the nails.

The last step is to apply a topcoat, but I rarely do that. My nails chip either way on the second day, so I don’t even put any effort into using it :) My favorite manicure is the first one, a lovely nude color with ombre golden glitter. Which one do you prefer? :) Take care ♥

New in + short reviews

18. 12. 2014

rsz_img_4633

Guilty as charged: I’ve gone a bit crazy with shopping this month! As I usually cannot wait to test every product as soon as I get home, this post will be a combination of the things I purchased and some short reviews. It is featuring makeup and skincare; however, there will be another one going online soon and will focus on some of my latest hair products.

rsz_img_4636

The first one is the Ziaja hand cream with coconut. It contains coconut lipids, rich in omega 3 and 6, and canola oil. I have to say, I was a bit sceptic about this one because the scent is incredibly strong, but it turned out to be one of my favorite hand creams so far! It is very moisturising and melts into the skin in seconds. On the plus side, the price is just around € 2–3 in DM.  ♦  The second one is the Gabriela Sabatini Eau de toilette. I’ve been thinking about getting this one for a week and then my sister got it for me as a present! ♥ The scent is very complex, for those who are not very professional in the perfume district (me included!), this is somehow similar to the Chanel 5. I made a “short research” and to my surprise, they both share some fragrance notes, such as neroli, jasmine and sandalwood. I would say that not a lot of women approve of this kind of perfumes, especially because the scent is very strong and stays with you throughout the whole day. Again, it is very affordable, the 30 ml bottle costs just around € 20. Needless to say, I love it!

I almost finished my Gariner micellar water, so I decided to try the L’Oréal Skin Perfection. It works great as well and cleanses the skin in no time. The only difference I’ve noticed so far is that I don’t feel the need to wash may face after I use it like I do after using the Garnier one. It costs € 5,99 in DM, but I got it for 3,99 with one of the coupons for 150 points.  ♦  The next product is the Balea Oil Fluid for face cleansing with camellia oil and vitamin E. It promises to remove makeup and other impurities. I certainly expected too much from this product, especially after such a long period of using micellar waters. The fluid didn’t lather as it should accordding to the packaging, but rather created a weird milk-like texture and just messed up all of my makeup. It is probably best to use it after removing everything in the evening or in the morning. It costs around € 2.

rsz_img_4645

I wrote about the Max Factor Excess Shimmer in shade Bronze two weeks ago and I’ve been using it almost every day ever since. ♥ It costs around € 10.  ♦  The second eyeshadow is the L’Oréal  Color Riche eyeshadow in shade Lumiere (500). It’s a beautiful golden eyeshadow with great pigmentation, but I haven’t tried it properly yet. I may make a separate post about it in the near future. The price is around € 8.

rsz_img_4648

Last but not least, we have two nail polishes. The first one is the Maybelline Colorama nail polish in shade 165, a lovely taupe color. As I’ve said countless times, their long lasting effect surprises me every single time. With this one, two coats are obligatory, as the first one is really transparent and uneven. The price is a bit less than € 3.  ♦  The second one is the Catrice Luxury Lacquers in shade Bronze Upon a Time (06), isnt’t the name just adorable? :D The glitter has gorgeous copper and golden shades, very festive indeed. It costs around € 4.  In addition, I’ll be featuring both of them in one of the posts in the following week.

Have you tried any of these products so far? :)

Take care ♥

Max Factor Excess Shimmer ♦ Bronze

7. 12. 2014

I’m all ready for the new week, my hair is freshly washed and my nails are getting quite festive, so I’m just going to seize the opportunity to show you my latest favorite beauty purchase. If I’m honest, I’ve already started to hoard some new makeup bits for Christmas parties and the New Year’s Eve, so exciting! ♥ Last week, I saw the Max Factor new eye shadows Excess Shimmer. They are creamy eye shadows with great pigmentation and long lasting formula, basically everything that I need for a carefree dinner or party. I already have two Color Tattoo eye shadows and I’m very pleased with them, the first one is in shade Permanent Taupe (40), a gorgeous taupe matt and opaque finish, and the second one is Metallic Pomegranate (70), lovely violet/red shimmery shade. Nevertheless, I really wanted to find a darker shimmery shade with the same consistency, and you can assume my first reaction when I saw the Excess Shimmer in DM for the first time! Only two shades were available at the time, the Bronze (the one I have) and the Copper shades, if I’m not mistaken.

rsz_img_4241

The first thing I noticed is that the Excess Shimmer is much creamier and blendable than the Maybelline ones. They are somehow harder to apply; don’t get me wrong, they are great alone as well as a base, but you have to be careful if you want to build these shades up. This is not the case with the Excessive Shimmer, a very thin coat will create a subtle look, whereas every new coat will give you more coverage. In addition, the shimmer is a bit smaller in comparison with the Metallic Pomegranate (Color Tattoo). Plus, it must be great for creating smokey eyes by adding a darker plum or brown shade (I have yet to try it out!).

rsz_img_4323

All in all, I just love this eye shadow and I can’t wait to start using it on a daily basis. I’ll try to make my festive look for December in a week or two, I hope the pictures will be more representative then. Now I just have to find a similar golden eye shadow and I’m good for a couple of months ;)
Have you tried any of the Excess Shimmer or Color Tattoo eye shadows? :)

Shower gels and baths for Autumn and Winter

1. 12. 2014

rsz_img_3274

Fragrant shower gels and baths have become a very important part of my everyday routine. Fresh scents energize you in the morning, whereas more spicy and luxurious scents really make you relax in the evening and prepare you for a deep, restful sleep. I tend to use different scents according to the season. At the moment, for example, I love using fruity and spicy shower gels and baths. All of these products have a gorgeous scent and brighten me up every day! :)

rsz_img_3265

The first one is the limited edition Balea shower gel called Purple Kisses. It is very creamy and lathers up really well. Besides, it has a lovely floral and sweet scent (lily and black raspberry). As usual, you can buy it DM. I cannot remember the exact price, but it wasn’t more than €1.5, which is really affordable for such a good shower gel. The second one is the Creightons Cherry & Wild Fig sensual bath and shower. I’m not sure whether I actually smell figs, but the scent is nevertheless nice, a bit powdery even. I know many disapprove this kind of smell, but it is a pampering kind of scent and I like it! I ordered it from licila.si for €4.95.

rsz_img_3266

The Little Bubble CO bath and shower gel Vanilla biscuit has been my favorite for more than a year. Oh my, it smells like the best kind of vanilla cookies!! I’m not into sugary scents, but when I smelled this one in Boots in London, I was sold. It costs around £3, which is nothing for such a nice gel, and not to mention that it lasts for ages (literally!). The last one is the Balea Evening Star bath with vanilla and chai scent. As you know how much I love chai lattes, this is yet another product that I’m overwhelmed by. Although vanilla and chai are really wintery smells, this one is somehow fruity and exotic, a perfect choice for winter evenings ♥ Again, you can buy it in DM for around €3.

rsz_img_3271

Is it funny that I had to smell every product before I even started writing about it? :) On to another topic: we had a bit of snow today! For the first time this season! I feel like a child every single time. And snow means: the festive Christmas season is officially here! Lots of mulled wine and hanging out with my friends and my boyfriend will be happening in the following weeks, and luckily, everything will calm down soon. Take care ♥

Barry M nail polish

16. 11. 2014

IMG_3179

The weekend is sadly almost at an end. It was quite productive actually, I’ve been running, doing yoga, translating and going on walks with my maltese ♥ On the other note, I also managed to paint my nails! When I have lots of work to do, painting my nails is deep down on the list (but I always have time for makeup!). I’ve been loving the Barry M nail paint in shade Mushroom (310), a lovely brown nail polish with a hint of grey. It’s very opaque, but I nevertheless always apply two coats.

Now I just want to enjoy the rest of the day, maybe with a hot bubble bath and a pamper evening! The next week will be quite hectic, so I have to save as much energy as I can. I wish you a great start of the week :)

Collective Beauty Haul!

25. 10. 2014

IMG_2855

Hi there! When life is tough or hectic, there is nothing better than a tiny bit of shopping, am I right, ladies? ;) That’s exactly what happened this week. I rarely go to a drugstore and buy crazy amounts of makeup at a time. On the contrary, I go to drugstores quite often, but since I don’t need any more makeup in reality, my goal is to buy only those products that I do need or find really interesting (and I cannot stop thinking about them!). Luckily, this doesn’t happen very often ;)

IMG_2850

For the past few weeks I’ve been searching for a new foundation. My complexion is quite specific, so it is difficult for me to find the right one. I must say, I was really surprised when I tried out the Bourjois CC cream, the color is unbelievably similar! This one is in shade 33 and although the darker one seemed to match my skin better, I decided to buy a bit lighter one, since I won’t be exposed to much sun in the following months. I used it a couple of times so far, but I’m not sure whether it will completely substitute my current foundation. Next, I got a bit crazy at the Maybelline counter! The first one is the Colorama nail polish (652), a lovely green shade that will come in handy when I get tired of various red/violet/pink nails :D The second product is the Colorama lip gloss in a pink shade (289). I don’t know what happened to me in the last few weeks, I became beyond obsessed with lip glosses!

IMG_2847

As you can see, I  bought yet another one. It’s the Catrice lip smoother in shade 030 Cake Pop, both the name and the smell/taste are so yummy! And the color is amazing on the lips, a bit nude and baby pink. I also bought the essence lip liner in shade 06 satin mauve just for this two lip glosses’ sakes! It intensifies the color and prolongs the wear. Last but not least, I got the L’Oréal bronzer as a gift in Müller the other day and it has been my favorite bronzer ever since! It’s in shade 04 and contains very small glitter that is not visible after I apply it on my face. I do have to apply it in small quantities though, because it is the darkest shade and it can be a bit too much, a sort of a Halloween look if I’m not careful enough :D

IMG_2852

I did enjoy doing this type of post again and I will try to make some more in the future :) Have you tried any of these products before? Because I am really interested in what other girls think about this Bourjois CC cream … I think I will really like it :) Have a lovely weekend ♥
