BEET AND RASPBERRY SMOOTHIE

The one thing I like the most about the summer is the abundance of fresh, home-grown fruits and veggies. And there’s no better way to start your day than with a delicious smoothie, right? ;) These days I’m obsessed with this red smoothie, packed with vitamins and minerals. As usual, the recipe for this healthy beet and raspberry smoothie is so simple it hurts, but is very nutritious and will fill you up for hours! For two people I used:

two small ripe bananas    a bunch of greens, such as beet leaves (great for salads, too!), kale, and parsley  ♥ 
one beet    a handful of raspberries    1 heaping tablespoon vegan protein powder   1 teaspoon maca powder

Peel the bananas and the beet and put them in the blender along with washed greens. I also love adding one big tablespoon of vegan protein powder, I currently have this one, and one teaspoon of maca powder that is great for hormones – both of them are by Nutrisslim (I got them at Interspar). Then just add one cup of water and start blending! If you prefer sweeter smoothies, add a date or two, but you can obviously add some peanut or almond butter. Voilà! Then just top these off with some chia seeds and raspberries. If this isn’t the most perfect breakfast ever, I don’t know what it is! :)

Grapefruit smoothie time!

Snow has just began to settle in, but I’m already one step in spring! I love smoothies not just because they remind me of warmer months, but I feel they help me a lot when I catch a cold. I’ve been experimenting a lot with citruses and combinations with grapefruit or oranges are among my favorites at the moment. Here you have a recipe of one of the tastiest and most refreshing fruit smoothies that has been on my breakfast list a lot since new year! You’ll need:

1 banana    1 grapefruit  ♥  1 medium chopped carrot    1 tsp ginger    water

Put everything into a blender and add water. I usually add one to two cups, depending on how thick I want the smoothie to be. Turn on the blender and let it blend until there are no large pieces of carrot floating around. Pour into a cup and enjoy!

A dessert-for-breakfast smoothie!

As you can see from the title, we’ll be discussing smoothies again, yay! I’ve posted quite a few recipes over the last few years, but none of them was so good that I would eat the exact same type every single day for weeks. Let’s see how to make it and what it has to offer:

2 ripe bananas    a bunch of greens (eg. spinach, rocket)    a big cup of blueberries
2 tbsp peanut butter    2 tbsp cacao  ♥  1 cup water    1 tsp chia seeds

Smoothies are such an easy dish to do: just put everything in a blender and let it do its job for a few minutes. Then pour in glasses and sprinkle with chia seeds, voilà!

I just want to mention that try to get a peanut butter without any additional oils or sugar – some store-bought peanut butters are full of hydrogenated oils and who knows what else. I get mine at DM as it is only made of peanuts!

This smoothie is a health bomb in a glass! Bananas are full of potassium and will give you lots of energy, blueberries and cacao are packed with antioxidants and chia seeds will provide you with a bunch of beneficial nutrients. I usually add a teaspoon of maca powder as well, I think it gives me so much energy that I don’t need my typical cup of coffee in the morning at all!

Hi there! Ahh, the days just go by and sometimes I don’t even have time to stop and take a deep breath. I’ve been really busy for the last couple of weeks, and then I had some proofreading to do. My working days were much more pleasant because of an excellent green smoothie you really have to try. I’ve made it almost every single day, since I always feel great afterwards. And finally I managed to make a real green smoothie, the recipe: lots of green vegetables and a hand blender! It’s so creamy and delicious that I may like it even more than the strawberry one! I know, you’ll say it’s impossible … but I really do :)

Zdravo! Joj, dnevi gredo kar mimo in včasih nimam niti časa, da bi se ustavila in globoko zadihala. Zadnja dva tedna sem imela res zasedena, nato sem pa še nekaj lektorirala. Delavne dneve sem si lepšala z odličnim zelenim smoothiejem, ki ga res morate poskusiti. Naredila sem ga skoraj vsak dan, saj se po njem vedno počutim naravnost odlično. Končno pa mi je uspelo narediti res zelen smoothie, recept: veliko zelene zelenjave in navaden palični mešalnik! Tako je kremast in okusen, da mi je verjetno celo bolj všeč od jagodnega smoothieja! Vem, skoraj nemogoče … ampak ga res premaga :)

We’ll need:

one banana    lots of fresh spinach    a bunch of parsley    1/4 avocado    1 cup water

Blend all the ingredients together with a hand blender for a few minutes. This recipe just couldn’t be easier! ;)

Potrebujemo:

eno banano    veliko sveže špinače    šop peteršilja    1/4 avokada    kozarec vode

Vse sestavine nekaj minut mešamo s paličnim mešalnikom. Bolj enostavno res ne more biti! ;)

Strawberry smoothie

Waaa, strawberry season is here! As soon as I saw a whole crate of strawberries at home I knew it was going to be a good day. I prepared a strawberry smoothie which resembles a dessert, but I nevertheless had it for dinner (I drank almost two glasses!). 

Aaa, sezona jagod je že tukaj! Takoj ko sem doma videla cel zabojček jagod, sem vedela, da bo dober dan. Pripravila sem super jagodni smoothie, ki je sicer bolj podoben sladici, vendar sem ga imela kar za večerjo (sem spila skoraj dva kozarca!).

For 2‒3 people we’ll need:

  • one banana
  • two cups strawberries
  • three tbsp coconut flour
  • two tbsp cream
  • 1 1/2 cups water

We blend all ingredients and pour into glasses. I garnished the smoothie with a little bit of coconut flour and pieces of strawberry. Bon appétit! :)

Za 2‒3 osebe potrebujemo:

  • eno banano
  • dva lončka jagod
  • tri žlice kokosove moke
  • dve žlici sladke smetane
  • 1 1/2 lončka vode

Vse dobro zmešamo z mešalnikom in prelijemo v kozarce. Jaz sem smoothie okrasila s še malo kokosove moke in koščki jagod. Dober tek! :)

Mango & blueberry smoothie

Smoothie. Zmešanček. Kakor koli jim že rečemo, dejstvo je, da so enkratni! Če kdo od vas meni, da poje premalo sadja in zelenjave, vam lahko iz lastnih izkušenj povem, da so smoothieji najboljši način, da v svoje telo vnesete vse potrebne snovi. Načeloma bi morali vsebovati več kot 3/4 zelenjave, vendar je v mesecih, ko na domačem vrtu ne raste veliko, dobro zelenjavo res težko dobiti. Tako moj prvi smoothie vsebuje špinačo (sicer zmrznjeno, zagovarjam svežo!) in veliko sadja :)

Smoothies. They are amazing! If anyone thinks that he/she does not eat enough fruits and vegetables, I can assure you from experience that smoothies are the best way to bring necessary substances. It is said that more than 3/4 of smoothie should consist of vegetables. However, in these months basically nothing grows in the garden and good vegetables are difficult to find. This is why my first smoothie includes spinach (I used frozen spinach, definitely prefer fresh one!) and lots of fruits :)

Za dve osebi (ali eno lačno) potrebujemo:

  • eno banano
  • skodelico špinače
  • skodelico narezanega manga
  • pol skodelice borovnic
  • 2 žlici lanenih semen
  • 2 skodelici vode

Vse dobro zmiksamo v mešalniku, prelijemo v kozarce in potresemo z lanenimi semeni. Dober tek! :)

For 2 servings (or 1 hungry person) we need:

  • one banana
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 cup chopped mango
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 2 tbsp flax seeds
  • 2 cups water

Blend all ingredients, pour into glasses and garnish with flax seeds. Bon appétit! :)
